On the right are shown well-preserved gifts from the Copper age (ca. 3.000-2.000 BC), composed by copper and stone weapons from a tomb found near Guardistallo, which testify the beginning of the exploitation of the copper mines of the Cecina river valley.<\/p>\n

The tomb found near Guardistallo is certainly one of the most important testimonies of the Copper Age throughout the Volterra area. The burial, discovered at the end of the 19th century, consisted of a pit protected by stone slabs. The grave goods undoubtedly belongs to a person of considerable importance, whose role of warrior and hunter king is highlighted; along with 14 arrowheads, a dagger and two stone axes, two daggers and two copper axes were placed in the tomb.<\/p>\n

The exhibition itinerary starts with Room I<\/strong> and the display of the most ancient prehistoric finds: the first tools made out of flint and jasper made by the Paleolithic Man, which testify the occupation of the territory along the coast ( ca. 700.000 – 10.000 years ago).
